NICOLE MCNEILL handbag designs help fight social and racial injustice by paying homage to the rich cultural heritage of the communities residing in and immigrating from the regions where bananas thrive.

Fashion as a Medium to Commemorate Ancestral Landscapes

By anchoring the idea of reclaiming power within this fertile and bountiful landscape of bananas, it reinforces the idea that one's own value is deeply rooted in their cultural heritage and history rather than in racism.

I aim to ignite a transformation that empowers people of color by deriving strength from their ancestral landscape to fashion genuine handbag designs.

The designs are African and Native American influences of my culture, drawing inspiration from the vibrant tropics of Latin America, Asian and various Indigenous cultures. This reflects a fusion of diverse cultural elements.

REBEL WITH A CAUSE

The idea of "taking back power" implies a sense of strength and agency in defining one's self-worth, despite perhaps facing challenges or setbacks.

In an effort to support the fight against social and racial injustice, a percentage of the revenue generated from handbag sales will be donated to organizations working towards empowering people of color through reparations.

Embracing ancestral heritage is liberating. Honoring your roots is never fleeting. Grounding your spirit helps to bring what was once dormant back to life!
