Nicole McNeill is a creative producer whose work spans independent and collaborative projects focused on storytelling, visual culture, and experimentation. Influenced by 90s MTV, Nickelodeon, and youth fashion magazines like Vogue, Seventeen, and Delia’s, she developed an early fascination with image-making, youth culture, and media aesthetics.
Her curiosity extended to experimental cinema and digital storytelling, including projects like Tarnation and the video game Emo Game. Studying Media at New Jersey City University, she began as a non-linear video editor, producing experimental shorts such as Father-Figure and A New Graft: Sociology of the Family, which combined archival Super 8 and VHS footage with newly shot 16mm and video material to explore memory, family history, and personal narrative.
Shortly after graduating, she worked as a video editor for the New Jersey Network on the documentary Another View, gaining professional experience while refining her editorial and production skills. Her career spans documentary, promotional, educational, and digital media projects, including the short documentary Grant Avenue on gentrification in Greenville, Jersey City, as well as collaborations with McGill University, the Ujamaa Initiative for Black Entrepreneurship, and Levicom Inc.
McNeill creates most of her work independently, often taking projects from concept through post-production on her own. In the digital age, media creation and distribution have become more accessible, allowing independent producers to submit content to platforms like YouTube, Hulu, Tubi, Netflix, Apple, Google, Amazon, and Spotify, provided submission requirements are met. She excels at shaping narrative from fragmented or archival material, bringing clarity, emotional depth, and visual cohesion.
While she often builds projects independently, McNeill values collaborative environments where storytelling and visual ideas develop collectively. Her work continues to explore nostalgia, identity, memory, and cultural artifacts, with a focus on projects that align with her aesthetic vision and creative sensibilities.
